Who we are
DRAFT - not yet reviewed by a person. [Organisation/team name to be filled in here] runs Wanasiasa as an independent civic data platform. It has one aim: to make public information about leaders and government spending easier to find and understand, without supporting any party or person.
What this platform is, and is not
Wanasiasa is an independent civic data platform. We collect information that is already public, organise it, and show the source of each item.
- It is not a government website.
- We have no affiliation with any political party.
- We do not campaign and we do not offer opinions on political questions.
- We do not publish accusations. We describe what official documents record.
Funding

How we verify data
A figure is not published merely because a computer collected it. Every figure that comes in passes through four stages: it is ingested, reviewed by a person, verified, then published. A figure that has not been through these stages does not appear on this site at all.
When we record a source page, we keep a copy of it as it stood on the day we read it. That lets us show what was written even if the source is changed later.
When we get it wrong
Corrections are published, not hidden. Every change appears on the changes page, together with the old and new values.

Security and privacy

What we can say with confidence now: you need no account and no name to use this site. If you send a message to your representative, that message is not published and we do not share who sent it.
We cannot promise that using this site carries no risk. We will not say that, because it is not true. What we do is keep as little information as possible, keep it briefly, and encrypt it.
